It is no coincidence that ABAS Protect has chosen a name with the word Protect in it. The word encompasses a wide range of aspects that reflect the company’s core values. Protect, which means to shield, effectively summarizes our business as a supplier of complete area protection, whether we use our products to prevent children from escaping from daycare, or to protect socially important facilities and private property from criminal activity.
All activities also affect the environment in some way, and we all have a responsibility to protect nature. ABAS Protect protects the environment by minimizing the environmental impact of its operations at every stage. We have systematically mapped various areas where we have been able to make an environmentally beneficial effort. One result of this work is that we have removed all toxic chemicals and oils in production.
ABAS Protect protects many of its products against corrosion through hot-dip galvanizing. We hot-dip galvanize all our products in accordance with UNI-EN 1461:2009 and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s general guidelines 97:4. This means that the zinc used is of SHG type (special high grade) and contains at least 99.995% zinc. The content of lead and cadmium is below 0.002% and 0.0004% respectively.
Previously, lead was added to the zinc melt, but this practice has been eliminated in Sweden for environmental reasons. In Sweden, hot-dip galvanizing takes place in closed facilities where dust particles are collected in filter systems, and thus no emissions occur into nature.
